Version 4.1 is designed to:
1) substantially improve integrity and consistency of "Location Code" naming so that mapping and graphing during later stages of projects aren't handicapped by shortcuts in variable naming during the early stages; and
2) provide better tracking of laboratory data submissions and receipts in line with user requests in conjunction with LSpecs.

Version 4.1 offers the following enhancements compared to Version 4.0.X

  • Importing:
    • When importing lab files ESdat previously defaulted to "Create Parent Records", which created Location Codes whenever a new code was encountered.  This has led to difficulties in ensuring consistent Location Code naming in some instances.  The previous default 'Require Parent Records' led to problems for beginner users only interested in chemistry tables.

The new version will default to "Create Parent Records" only when the Location table is empty, or where no differentiation has been made between the Location Code and the Field ID on previous imports. Otherwise "Require Parent Records" will be the default.
    • SampleCode generation for Field, Borehole and Historical Chemistry has been updated to calculate automatically and better identify customisations in the ordering and presence of Chemistry Sample fields.
    • Handling of "-" and other text flags in historical data improved.

  • Tracking Chemistry - A Chem Data Tracking button replaces the "Samples" button.  This includes the following:
    • Samples as provided previously
    • Samples with raw chemistry data.  This provides easier filtering by sample attributes of the raw chemistry data for issues such as unit conversions.  This view was previously available under the "All Queries" output (Access versions), but not intuitive to find.
    • Sample Delivery Groups.  Tracks batches of samples received by the lab.  For full data population the lab will need to provide all 4 lab files (not the two provided by most to date)
    • Lab Reports.  Tracks lab reports received.  All 4 lab files needed for full population.
    • This additional functionality is designed to complement user requirements when using LSpecs for tracking samples, lab submissions and lab reports, but can be used without LSpecs.

  • Output Views
    • "Area" (Access) and "Monitoring_Zone" (SQL Server) have been elevated in the column order for default views to encourage user awareness and usage for better deliniation of areas of the site.
    • Extra views have been added for borehole and geology outputs (Access versions)
    • The Water Level Elevation output has been split into a "TimeVariant TOC" version, and a version that doesn't use "Timevariant TOC".  This is to enable faster processing where a time-variant TOC isn't required, and also to better present that functionality to users.

  • Permissions
    • SQL Server  - ability to import environmental guidelines for "All" sites turned off, except for power users.

  • Chemistry Tables
    • Faster loading of form for specifying outputs and settings
    • Minor enhancements on layout of form and tables based on user feedback
    • Ability to export > 255 columns in the table (SQL Server version, requires Excel 07)

  • QA Report
    • Dynamic UCL and LCL can now be used for exceedances of Matrix Spikes and Surrogates.  Labs will need to report this information as per the current lab specification (version 2e)

  • Bugs
    • "Type Mismatch" error prompt in chemistry tables fixed.
    • Display of data in ESdat was limited to 9 decimal places - expanded to 12.
    • Any crashes/error messages due to 4.0.X updates fixed.
